Space Wave: Road Test

This toy UFO doesn’t come with a hand-held remote control - instead, it flies in a much stranger way.

What is it?

A toy UFO – an Unusual Flying Object.

How so? It’s a flying saucer, festooned with LED lights, that generates lift by spinning. There’s no hand-held remote control; instead, it reacts to your movements using sensors.

Go on… So it’ll hover in mid-air, and levitate higher when you wave a hand or foot (or any other appendage, in the privacy of your own home) underneath it. You can also move it sideways, with practice, so team play is possible.

Vital statistics: It’s 14cm across, made of foam and plastic, and charges via a USB port (no batteries are required).

What’s the point? There is absolutely no point. But kids will love it – at least, until they smash it to bits. And it totally freaks out cats, which is a bonus if you like that sort of thing.
