Roadtest: Two Rivers Sencha
GREEN tea that’s grown in Australia.
WHAT is it?
Green tea with a unique selling point.
Which is?
It’s grown here in Australia - on a family-run plantation in the Acheron Valley, northeast of Melbourne.
What does Sencha mean?
It’s a style of Japanese tea; the leaves are harvested in summer and autumn, then steamed, rolled and dried. Sencha is your standard Japanese cuppa.
Tasting notes:
Steeping it in 75 water produces a beautiful golden liquor with a full-bodied, nuanced flavour. Delicious!
Anything else?
Two Rivers claims it “nurtures your mind, body and soul”. We can only report experiencing a distinct narcotic buzz (a common effect with green teas) after drinking it. Who knows what would happen if you smoked it? Just to be clear, that is not a serving suggestion.
