WHAT is it?

It's a toasted sandwich maker, made to Breville's original 1974 design specifications.

Back to the'70s? Is that a good idea?
Point taken. It was, after all, the year My Coo Ca Choo topped the singles chart. But for those of us who were ravenous youngsters at the time, it was the year of the great leap forward in toasted sanger technology.

Please explain.
It's dead easy to use: switch it on at the wall and wait for the green light. It makes two sandwiches at once; that's the essential minimum. Its scalloped design allows for generous amounts of filling, and it cuts each sandwich into two neat triangles while sealing the edges to hold in all that runny cheese.

I'm getting hungry ... what else can it make?
It's not just ham, cheese and tomato anymore. This one comes with recipes for smoked salmon, bocconcini and dill; chicken, basil and almond; meatballs, tomato and parmesan; and plenty of others. Not to mention dessert - hot apple pie; raisin and rice pudding ... A colleague swears by banana, toasted almond and Nutella.

Anything else?
It's made from polished stainless steel and its compact design means you can easily stuff it into the cupboard.
