What is it? An Ultra HD Smart 3D Curved LED-LCD TV.

I only understood the words “curved” and “TV”. The concave screen is the design fad du jour. Samsung says it offers a more immersive, cinema-like experience.

Does it work? The picture on the 55-inch, ultra high-definition screen is amazing. The curved thing takes a little getting used to; you need to sit quite close to get the effect.

Any issues with it? You can’t mount it flush against a wall – unless you happen to live in a lighthouse, or an igloo.

Do you need one? The World Cup is the perfect excuse for a TV upgrade. All that skill and passion, the brilliant goals, the fouls and spitting and cheating and headbutts… the beautiful game deserves a beautiful telly, right?
