Road Test: NRGVault PV1500 powerbank review
It’s capable of running a small TV for 18 hours. But the price will shock you.
WHAT IS IT?The mother of all powerbanks. This thing has a capacity of 1228Wh (Watt-hours)!
TRANSLATION PLEASE. It means very big. Big enough to charge up an iPhone or a drone 70 times, or to run a small TV or a mini-fridge for 18 hours.
GOSH.Yes. It’s shaped like a small esky, with an integrated handle, which allows NRGVault to laughably describe it as portable (it weighs nearly 16kg).
WHAT SORT OF OUTPUTS DOES IT HAVE?Four standard 240V AC sockets (for household appliances), six USBs and two 12V DC pin-style sockets (for running monitors or printers, say).
ANYTHING ELSE? There’s a nice LCD display panel. The unit can recharge via a regular wall plug, a 12v DC plug or a solar panel. It would be great as an emergency power back-up for the home – or on camping trips.
THIS ALL SOUNDS VERY SENSIBLE SO FAR. SURELY THERE MUST BE SOMETHING RIDICULOUS ABOUT IT.Yes, the price (see below). Crikey!
