Road Test: nomadiQ portable barbecue
It’s ‘the world’s smartest portable gas BBQ’, according to its Dutch inventors. So is it any good?
What is it? “The world’s smartest portable gas BBQ,” according to its Dutch inventors.
Eh? What do the Dutch know about barbecues? Plenty, if this unit is anything to go by. It weighs 5.6kg, sets up in a minute, and runs off everything from regular BBQ gas bottles to dinky little camping gas canisters. But that’s not the best bit.
Go on… It’s designed like a clam shell: opened up, it offers twin grills (total cooking area is about the size of a sheet of A3 paper) with separate temperature controls for each side. It’s big enough to cook for “12 friends”, nomadiQ says, a little optimistically.
And when you’re done? Simply close it up and sling it over your shoulder – it comes with a carrying strap – leaving your hands free for, I dunno, gripping the bars of a stylish sit-up bicycle, or rolling a joint. It even looks a bit like a chic black tote! Albeit one that smells of sausages.
