Road Test: ECOVACS Winbot 1 Pro review
It like a labour-saving device of the future. But Ecovacs should go back to the drawing board …
WHAT IS IT? A robotic window cleaner.
I’M IMAGINING A TERMINATOR-STYLE CYBORG HOLDING A BUCKET OF SOAPY WATER AND A SQUEEGEE. So sorry to disappoint, but this thing is more like a robotic limpet.
HOW SO? It’s a boxy device that sticks to the window by suction (via a powerful fan) and creeps around, spraying and cleaning. Ecovacs proudlly announces that its cutting-edge features include “dual direction auto spray technology” and “edge detection technology”.
I SEE IT PLUGS INTO THE MAINS VIA A CORD. Yup. That’s a bit disappointing.
AND SURELY IT ONLY CLEANS ONE SIDE OF THE WINDOW. Good point. Yes.
AND WHEN IT’S FINISHED, YOU’LL HAVE TO REMOVE IT BY HAND AND PLACE IT ON THE NEXT WINDOW, AND THE NEXT? Another good point.
SURELY THERE’S A SMARTER WAY TO CLEAN THEM? Yes, wipe ’em with scrunched-up newspaper and diluted vinegar! It’s an effective life hack from the analogue age. You’re welcome, people.
