Road Test: Dyson Cinetic
THE coolest looking vacuum cleaner, ever.
WHAT is it?
The coolest looking vacuum cleaner, ever. It could be a droid from Star Wars. Yes, and form follows function: those valve-like structures on the machine are "Dyson's smallest cyclones, with oscillating tips"; they create centrifugal forces that capture dust, apparently.
What's the unique selling point?
Not only is it bagless, but there is no filter to maintain: Dyson says you can use this continually for 10 years without any loss of performance.
Pros: The suction is very strong, and the machine is well articulated so it's easy to drag around. Nice features include a trigger on the handle to cut the suction (in case you pick up a piece of plastic, say), and an array of well-designed heads.
Cons: It's noisy. Plus, who's got a grand for a vac these days?
Price: Cinetic range $799-1099, dyson.com.au
