IT’S the answer to a problem that has plagued the middle classes for years: How do you create the crispiness of a brick oven pizza without bricks?
BREVILLE Crispy Crust
What is it? The answer to a problem that has plagued the middle classes for years. As Breville puts it, “How do you create the crispiness of a brick oven pizza without bricks?”
Go on… It’s a benchtop grill, a bit like a sandwich press, with heating elements in the base and lid. Here’s the key: your pizza sits on a thick, 30cm stone plate inside the grill.
And? It works well, as you’d expect, having been created by Pete Evans of MKR fame. But while Pete might be a brilliant chef/restaurateur, he ain’t no designer. The Crispy Crust has all the aesthetic appeal of an iron lung.
What can you cook? A book of recipes is included. Mostly classics, some off-piste. Examples? Roast lamb pizza! Pear & frangipane! Sardine & Nutella! OK, that last one’s made up.
