What is it? A device that’ll help ease you back into working at the office. It’s a balance board, designed for use at a standing desk!
A balance board? Yup: it’s like a wobbly plank that sits on top of a little air cushion. Standing on it, you have to constantly make “micro-movements” to keep your balance.
I was surprised by a micro-movement once – in chinos! I had to boil-wash ’em. Eh? I’m talking about engaging the muscles in your core. Using the Focus means you “exercise while you work”, says Revbalance. (The firm also claims, less convincingly, that it will improve your focus and productivity.) It’s rated to a whopping 204kg, being US-made, and you can tweak the air cushion to adjust the difficulty.
Verdict: It’ll instantly mark you out as a co-worker who’s in touch with the zeitgeist. Either that, or everyone will think you’re a tosser.
