WHAT IS IT? Let PaWz explain. “Tired of cleaning cat poo?” it asks. “An automatic litter box is for you.”

SURELY THEY MEAN CLEANING UP CAT POO. CLEANING CAT POO IS A RATHER MORE NICHE HOBBY... Yes, they do. This smart litter box – it’s 64cm tall, and looks like a giant astronaut helmet – does all the yucky business for you.

HOW? An automatic rake mechanism inside the box scoops up the poo after the cat has left, and deposits it in a sealed, odour-resistant compartment at the back for easy bagging and disposal.

NICE. Yeah. The litter box – which has 60litres of internal volume, and is therefore suitable for even fat cats – also offers puss some privacy, with a door that closes behind it. “A happy cat is one that can relieve themselves in privacy,” PaWz says.

THAT’S A BIT WEIRD. ANYTHING ELSE? Yes, the unit will automatically sterilise itself with purple UV light. It also connects to an app on your phone, so you can check how frequently your cat is toileting. Which is really weird, come to think of it.
