MyWeigh XL-550: Road Test

It’s a high-capacity talking bathroom scale. So is it any good?

What is it?

A high-capacity, talking bathroom scale.

Talking? Yes, it speaks your weight – being an American product, it does so in a robotic Yankee drawl – as well as displaying the kilos on the LCD screen.

How “high-capacity” is it? It goes up to 250kg.

Crikey, does it say Ooooof when you step on it? Now, now. This is a serious product, intended for the morbidly obese – and let’s face it, things are pretty bad if you can’t even see over your belly – and for the visually impaired.

Verdict: It’s nicely designed (though the lack of a volume control is a strange oversight), and feels well made. It even says “Hello” when you step onto it and “Bye” when you step off. Fat and friendly… how American is that!
