Jennifer Peedom’s next big challenge: tackling “the greatest story that’s never been told”

We’re fortunate in this country to have many gifted storytellers. Take filmmaker Jen Peedom, the subject of today’s cover story.

We’re fortunate in this country to have gifted storytellers. Not just across print and podcasts, the arts and television but also documentaries, and that’s where filmmaker Jen Peedom and her internationally renowned work comes in.

Most memorable for me was the tragic and powerful Sherpa, filmed during the 2014 Mount Everest ice avalanche that killed 16 Sherpas. Others will recall Solo, the story of adventurer Andrew McAuley’s attempt to kayak from Tasmania to New Zealand, or the theatrical documentary Mountain, narrated by Willem Dafoe. Peedom tells journalist Greg Bearup she has another big project in the works – an ambitious narrative feature film.
