In celebration of the food business
READERS of this magazine love their food. We know that because of the feedback we get from David Herbert's recipes and John Lethlean's restaurant reviews.
READERS of this magazine love their food. We know that because of the feedback we get from David Herbert's recipes and John Lethlean's restaurant reviews.
Those responses cover the gamut, from restaurateurs seething about an unfavourable critique to readers who appreciate honest, forthright opinion.
Ultimately, though, John Lethlean's columns celebrate food, and the kitchens and chefs that produce it.
That's why we have established a new annual awards program to find the nation's most interesting restaurants. The Hot 50 Restaurant Awards, to be announced on July 16, will be followed by a special issue of the magazine on July 21 featuring the winners, along with a state by state guide.
It will be compiled by our judging panel of Lethlean, The Australian's food editor Necia Wilden, and restaurant critic Simon Thomsen, who will be assisted by state contributors. An integral part of the 10 awards - which cover all aspects of the business from food to design, wine and service - will be a people's choice category.
So have your say: nominate your favourite restaurant now.
