Fashion Q&A: How do I wear neon?
The northern spring 2019 catwalks were positively glowing with neon looks.
The northern spring 2019 catwalks were positively glowing with neon looks. House of Holland, Jeremy Scott, Off-White and Emporio Armani were just some of the names embracing Day-Glo shades of lemon, orange, pink and lime. Streetwear is one way to approach the colour palette, especially in colourful active- or outerwear from the likes of Hugo Hugo Boss (hugoboss.com) or Adam Selman Sport. Try layering a skinny neon skivvy (see Les Reveries, net-a-porter.com), under a floral slip dress. Or mix neons with neutrals including this season’s favourite, beige. Asos has a great selection of pleated skirts (asos.com), Cotton On has flats and flip-flops (cottonon.com.au), Zara coats, separates and neon heels (zara.com), while Le Specs has eye-watering cats-eye sunglasses (lespecs.com). Hi-vis is also hi-impact for evening, in which case Maticevski has you highlighted (pictured, $7790, maticevski.com).
Should I buy a logo tee?
It’s certainly a huge trend, but ask yourself: how much of a fan are you? If you are an ardent devotee of a label, feel confident to let the rest of the world know. Many of the world’s luxury labels are feeding this trend, including Balenciaga, Balmain, Gucci and Fendi (net-a-porter.com). But why not support the home side? Camilla and Marc’s C&M tee is a favourite (camillaandmarc.com), ByJohnny has a version (byjohnny.com.au), and Country Road has a range of colour options (countryroad.com.au). Looking ahead, Aje’s signature sweater is a great transseasonal variation (pictured, $275, a-j-e.com.au).
