IT'S more by accident than design that the subject of ageing permeates two of our features this week.

Actor turned director Rachel Ward muses on the topic in her wide-ranging interview with Megan Lehmann, and sociologist and educator Patricia Edgar gives it a thorough examination in her illuminating story. We've been a bit obsessed with the passage of time in the office as well; next week we mark the 25th anniversary of this magazine. It's been months in the planning and we're thrilled that so many great Australians - including some who usually avoid the media - have agreed to take part in this landmark issue.
