I should know, having recently moved two children from Queensland to NSW, witnessing first-hand the ludicrous differences in curriculum, even year levels, between the two states.
Bring on a national curriculum, I say.
There are in fact many changes afoot in education as schools adapt to new technology and different social dynamics, and Caroline Overington's cover story - her first since joining the magazine - examines the current trend towards "agile learning".
When we first discussed this new teaching model I cast my mind back to other trends in education: Cuisenaire rods for maths, rote learning, phonics and whole-language reading … All I can say is that for most parents (and some teachers too, I imagine), it's all very confusing.
