The EcoFlow Delta 2 “portable power station” can run 13 devices simultaneously. It’s a serious bit of kit, but who’s it aimed at?

WHAT IS IT? EcoFlow calls it a “portable power station”, which hints at the huge capacity – though the word “portable” should be taken with a pinch of salt.

GO ON… It has a capacity of a little over 1kWh (that’s to say, it can output 1,000 watts for an hour) and weighs 12kg. It’s fine to lift into the back of a car, but you won’t be going around with it in a backpack.

COOL FEATURES?With six USB outlets, four AC plug outlets, two barrel plug outlets and a 12.6v car power outlet, it can power up to 13 devices simultaneously. You can control it via a smartphone app.

HOW ABOUT RECHARGING? It takes just 80 minutes with a wall socket. You can also use solar panels, or an alternator charger in your car (each costs about 600 bucks).

WHO’S IT FOR? It’s aimed at “outdoor enthusiasts and travellers”, EcoFlow says. They mean caravanners, really. Imagine how you could trick up your ‘van, with a big hi-fi and fairy lights and a Thermomix in the kitchenette, all powered by the Delta 2! Or you could just use it to crank up the fans, to get rid of the honk from the chemical toilet.
