Breville Boss To Go Plus: Road Test

This personal blender - designed for making single serves of smoothie - has a 1000-watt motor! What’s that all about?

What is it?

A blender with a chip on its shoulder.

How so? Well, this “personal” appliance – designed to make single serves of nutritious smoothies – has a 1000-watt motor under the hood. That’s about twice as powerful as your average electric bicycle!

Sounds like it’s compensating for something. Either that or it’s a canny ploy to interest men, who are in general bored by holistic, vegetable-based beverages. The Boss to Go Plus is, in essence, a power tool for the kitchen. Chuck in a few nuts and it even sounds like a chainsaw. Grrrrr.

What’s the point? It makes for an ultra-fine particle size, and therefore a silky smooth smoothie, Breville says.

Verdict: Our avocado, watercress, banana and kale smoothie was knocked up in a swift and manly fashion. The mouthfeel? Smoooooth as. The taste? Bloody awful.
