A juror said he could not do his job because in his mind he would be “replaying that sex tape over and over again.”

The Kardashians are in a AUD$134m court battle this week against their weakened brother's ex fiancé Blac Chyna.

Fans have mocked the “unkind” and "unrecognisable" artist impressions of momager Kris Jenner and her daughters Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, as they sat front row at an LA court room this week.

The four Kardashian-Jenner women are listed as defendants in the defamation lawsuit taken out by brother Rob Kardashian's former partner Chyna, 33.

The artist in question, Mona Shafer Edwards, has drawn famous courtroom alumni from Michael Jackson to OJ Simpson. But perturbingly for the American royals, their plump lips almost touch their noses, their cheekbones are rouged and taut, and Kris Jenner appears quite inflated behind her mask. Khloe though, unfairly ragged as the "ugly sister" her entire life, draws particularly well.

So, what's this $134m lawsuit all about?

In 2016, Chyna, then 27, started dating Robert Kardashian, then 28. Former stripper Chyna rose to fame in Kanye West’s 2010 Monster music video, and later launched beauty brand Lashed Cosmetics. Chyna and Rob got engaged a few months later and just as quickly announced they were having a baby.

They started filming the Keeping Up With The Kardashians spinoff Chyna & Rob later that year, which was cancelled during season two of filming following their very public and venomous break up in July 2017.

It got messy. On and off camera. Remember this scene.

Rob allegedly posted naked images of Chyna to social media, which is the subject of a separate revenge porn case set to begin in May.

And then Chyna tweeted out his phone number.

In October 2017, Chyna sued Rob, his sisters Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian, as well as his mum Kris Jenner, and half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner. She argued they sought to destroy her reality TV career as an act of "revenge".

On Tuesday, Chyna's lawyer told the court: "Chyna went from being the star on E!’s number-one hit show at $92,500 per episode to being off the airwaves entirely."

She claimed members of the Kardashians clan lied to executives at the E! network in order to cancel the airing of the second season of Rob & Chyna, which she says amounts to defamation.

The Kardashians have denied any wrongdoing.

In court filings, they claim what they told E! executives wasn't defamation because it was true - a full defence. They said Chyna strangled Rob with an electric charging cord and pointed a gun at his head in a “drug and alcohol fuelled rampage” at the end of 2016.

They say they were genuinely concerned continuing with Rob & Chyna as it could put Rob, who has a history of depression and lives with diabetes, in danger.

Chyna also claims Rob assaulted and harassed her in her lawsuit, which he denies.

The trial commenced on Tuesday afternoon, when Chyna briefly took the stand.

Jury selection took some time as many prospective jurors expressed their disdain towards the Kardashians and reality television.

One potential juror, in his 50s or 60s, told the court: “I have watched [Kim] Kardashian’s sex tape, and I don’t think I can be impartial on this case.” The comments seemed to visibly upset and annoy the family, according to court reports.

He said he could not do his job as a juror because in his mind he would be “replaying that sex tape over and over again.”

"The response elicited a roar of laughter from the other potential jurors sitting in the audience. After that remark, Khloé Kardashian, 37, was seen fixing Kim’s long, dark locks – as if to comfort her sister. Kris Jenner, 66, then shook her head after the same man reiterated to the judge that it would be difficult for him to serve as a juror," The New York Post reported.

Finding potential jury members for the case was one of the first hurdles of the trial, considering how difficult it was to identify someone who has no connection or knowledge of the most famous family in LA, if not the world.

The trial is expected to last seven to 10 days and Kris, Kim, Khloe and Kylie are expected to take the stand.

Rob is rarely seen in public anymore.

He elected not to feature in the later seasons of Keeping Up With The Kardashians as well as their new Hulu show The Kardashians.
