Happy beginning to the best week of the year.

Welcome to that time where time has no real meaning. Things, days and hours are only measured by either anxiety over Christmas and holidays and hangxiety from party season.

Either way, buckle up, grab a cold brew and let's get on with it.

Like Terry Campese.

Who is Terry Campese?

Firstly, how dare you?

Secondly, he's now the second Canberra Raiders star to run for politics.

The first didn't go so well.

The former Canberra Raiders captain announced on Sunday that he plans to represent Labor in the 2023 NSW elections, and will stand for pre-selection in the regional seat of Monaro, which includes Queanbeyan, Cooma, and the NSW Snowy Mountains.

After he retired from footy he established the Terry Campese Foundation - a not-for-profit focused on mentoring and supporting marginalised young people in the area.

"I'm born and bred in Queanbeyan and the Monaro region. I am driven by working in and for the community and I want to take that commitment to the next level," Campese, who now works at the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council as a community program coordinator, said.

"It's time for a fresh start in Monaro and I’m determined to ensure a Minns Labor Government delivers better schools and hospitals for our community."

If Campese is successful in gaining pre-selection to be the ALP candidate, he'll go up against the member for Monaro, Nats MP Nichole Overall, who became the first female member to hold the seat, which is considered a bell-weather seat at a federal level.

NSW Opposition Leader Chris Minns is pumped to (potentially) have Campese as apart of his team.

"While we all will miss Terry running around as captain-coach for the Queanbeyan Blues, his most important and valued work has always been his community and charitable works," Minns said.

"Terry knows what the people of Monaro and Queanbeyan need in terms of service delivery and support, because he listens and delivers for them as a community worker each and every day."

Given the success of Sam Groth - the former professional tennis player who won the seat of Nepean in the recent Victoria election and was appointed as a shadow minister for sport on Sunday - the timing could be perfect for Campese's campaign.

It's been a huge year for leafy greens

First iceberg became the new luxury item thanks to inflation. Now spinach is making people think they're actually Popeye.

Woolworths, Aldi and Costco stores across Australia are urgently recalling salad products after several people who consumed ‘toxic’ spinach on Friday were forced to seek medical attention.

On Friday morning, health authorities urgently recalled Riviera Farms branded baby spinach packets after a ‘hallucinogenic’ toxic plant material was found to have contaminated the product.

Of 47 people in NSW who reported symptoms, 17 have sought medical attention.

If you're in the ACT, Victoria, NSW and Tassie and have got a Woolworths Chicken Cobb salad with a use-by date of December 20 and Woolworths Chickpea Falafel with use-by dates of 20 and 22 December still in the fridge - toss 'em. Immediately.

“Woolworths has initiated a recall due to a potential contamination with unsafe plant material,” a spokesperson said.

“Food products containing unsafe plant material may cause illness if consumed.”

The alarm was sounded after dozens of people reported worrying symptoms after eating the contaminated product, including delirium or confusion, blurred vision, hallucinations and fever.

Health experts are now urging people to, obviously, avoid eating the products and are advising customers worried about their health to seek medical advice.

Aldi stores have also taken Fresh Salad Co Fresh and Fast Stir Fry packs with an expiry date of December 24 off the shelves.

A-class morons

Violent soccer hooligans - including women and kids - who invaded an A-League pitch and assaulted a player and referee, and struck a TV cammo in the head with a flare in Melbourne, are now facing potential jail and fines of up to $11.000 each.

Victorian police are now pouring through pics and social media footage of more than 150 people who caused one of the worst nights of violence in soccer's history in Australia on Saturday.

The Victoria Premier is not standing for it.

The sports minister is pissed.

"Members of police Operation Astute are poised to raid homes of some of the disgraced soccer fans who ran onto AAMI Park amid a protest during the Melbourne Victory v Melbourne City derby over the decision to hold the next three league grand finals in Sydney," The Australian reported.

"In scenes rarely witnessed in Australia, one supporter assaulted Melbourne City goalkeeper Tom Glover with a bucket filled with sand, referee Alex King was also struck and a Channel 10 cameraman was burnt with a flare before the game was ended to protect the players and referees.Melbourne Victory is facing potentially significant sanctions over the behaviour of their fans that could include fines, spectator lockouts and a loss of competition points."

Panic in Peru

More than 170 Australians are attempting to escape Peru as the South American country spirals into political turmoil.

As protests eased across parts of the country at the weekend, about 30 Australian tourists were reportedly trapped in a town below Machu Picchu before boarding trains to escape the famous Inca temple and mountain region to escape the deepening political violence.

The unrest has swelled across several cities and regions, leaving at least 18 people dead, including kids.

On Sunday, DFAT confirmed 171 Australians were seeking consular assistance through the embassy in Lima, with the reopening of Cusco Airport and some train services, allowing many of the Australians stranded to depart Cusco and Machu Picchu over the coming days.

Margot Robbie has logged on...in December

Margot Robbie's 2022 is starting to resemble someone rushing through a supermarket at five minutes to close on Christmas Eve.

Over the weekend we copped the first look at the new Barbie movie with the first trailer, starring Helen Mirren absolutely smashing those of us who grew up with Cabbage Patch dolls.

Meanwhile the Robbie red carpet renaissance has begun.

Goodbye to Chanel that wore her and hello to this hooded ensemble by Alaia.

The sexiness fits as her next flick, called Babylon, had its global premiere over the weekend and it sounds as steamy as an infrared sauna.

"It was like ‘La Dolce Vita’ and ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ had a baby," is how Robbie described it.

The trailer alone left me more exhausted than a Bikram spin class.

Robbie also said she was surprise at “getting away” with an “orgy” scene in the epic from Oscar-winning La La Land director Damien Chazelle, alongside Diego Calva and Brad Pitt.

Babylon chronicles the rise and fall of several characters during Hollywood's evolution from silent films to sound films in the late 1920s.

In it Robbie pashes Pitt. Something that wasn't scripted and she petitioned Chazelle to include it.

“Believe me, that’s the tamest thing she does in this. She’s on fire in this. It’s the best I’ve ever seen her,” Pitt said.

According to reviews, the film is divisive and contains many "shocking scenes".

One person who was surprised by the film’s content was Carey Mulligan, who spoke with Robbie as part of Variety’s “Actors on Actors” interview series. She described the the opening sequence as “this enormously debauched, crazy, wild party” featuring “lots of people wearing very little or nothing”.

Robbie said: “It’s pretty much a party-slash-orgy. It kind of turns into an orgy.”

Rihanna is now the latest celebrity to cop the Rebel Wilson treatment

Rihanna has published photos of her kid on TikTok to beat the tabloids to the punch.

Paparazzi allegedly captured photos of the bundle so to scoop them (and rob them of a payday Rebel Wilson style) she started a TikTok account and posted a video with the caption "hacked".

This actually happened
