Good morning!

Well. Hasn't this week felt like a year?

Congratulations we made it to Friday, October 28 which means we're one more day closer to getting new Rihanna in our ears.

New music is set to drop on Saturday. Her first new record since becoming a mum and a billionaire.

Her last album, Anti, was released in 2016.

The new song, Lift Me Up, will be released on the soundtrack of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Lift Me Up was written by Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems, Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna and Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler.

It is "a tribute to the extraordinary life and legacy" of late Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman, according to a Marvel spokesperson.

The song was recorded in five countries and was produced by Göransson.

Rihanna has not commented on the upcoming release, except for this.

Rishi meets Albo

Anthony Albanese and new British leader Rishi Sunak have more in common than we think. Sure, Sunak is a cashed up Tory and Albanese said during his younger days all he wanted to do was "fight Tories" but the two have chatted over the phone overnight.

Bold of Sunak to declare he'll still be in a job next month considering his predecessor only lasted 44 days but you have to admire the optimism.

The two leaders may not share a common political line but their bond will extend to both experiencing absolutely cooked internal party politics.

Oh Canada

Speaking of the UK, Canada said "why not 'eh" and is sticking with the Commonwealth.

A proposal by Quebec's separatist party asking the Canadian government to cut its ties with the British monarchy has been rejected in the country's parliament.

The country's ties with the monarchy were called "archaic" and "a thing of the past" when the bill was tabled by Yves-Francois Blanchet, but was defeated with 266 votes against. and 44 votes in favour.

Britain colonised Canada in the late 1500s, and the country remained part of the British empire until 1982.

Parliament is back and so is "bullying"

Anthony Albanese has been accused of bullying a female Coalition MP who said she felt “humiliated” by the Prime Minister during question time on Thursday.

Michelle Landry became distressed and was escorted from the House of Representatives in tears after a particularly rowdy QT.

In a press conference flanked by her female colleagues, who called out “enough is enough”, Landry - who hails from regional Queensland - said a response that Albanese gave to her question about funding for the Rockhampton Ring Road and the applause he received from his colleagues was “fairly bullying behaviour”.

“I’ve been a federal MP down here for nine years, I’ve been involved heavily in federal politics for 12,” she said.

“I really do not appreciate being spoken to and screamed at by the Prime Minister as I was today. I asked a question, which I’ve talked to a lot of you about, the ring road in Rockhampton, and I feel that I’ve been humiliated by him and by the Labor Party.

“This is not the first time I’ve endured stuff from the Labor Party, from the Prime Minister’s office, who have spread smear campaigns about me in Rockhampton and also the stuff from some of the female MPs in the Labor Party.”

Landry declared “we’ve all had enough” and she wanted to make a stand.

“If I don’t stand up against this bullying in the parliament, well they just won’t have the respect from me,” she said.

“They’re a bunch of hypocrites if they can say that everything’s so wonderful on the left, well it’s not. They treat us appallingly. Our female MPs and senators are treated like absolute garbage all the time by the left and we have had enough.

“Just imagine if Scott Morrison had done that to one of the Labor MPs, it’s just appalling and they think they can get away with it, they think they’re so self-righteous and it is just not good enough behaviour.”

Deputy Liberal leader Sussan Ley requested that Speaker Milton Dick review the footage from the chamber after Landry asked if his government intended to delay $800m in Commonwealth cash to construct the Rockhampton Ring Rd – in her central Queensland electorate of Capricornia – by two years.

Albanese, sounding like he's mainlined a four pack of Red Bulls - confirmed the funding and ridiculed the Coalition after an interjection from Opposition Leader - and Queenslander - Peter Dutton who confused the Yeppen Floodplain with Yeppoon - that are both in Queensland.

After doing so, Dick said he “did not see the Prime Minister show any disrespect to the Member for Capricornia”.

The Speaker said when answering the question Albanese was also directly responding to interjections from Dutton and Landry appeared engaged in his response.

Moving on...

To things that actually got done in Parliament.

Cheaper medicines are coming.

From January 1 2023, the maximum PBS co-payment for prescription drugs will be reduced from $42.50 to just $30.

Paid domestic and family violence leave is also a thing. With a Bill to make 10-days of leave available to those impacted by violence at home available passing quickly though both houses of parliament.

Calls for Indigenous sex abuse inquiry

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton handed down his Budget Reply on Thursday night and warned of "dark days" under the ALP. Literally as energy and electricity reliability may become scarce over summer.

Anyway, Dutton rose earlier in the day to call for a royal commission to examine child sexual abuse in Indigenous communities which he said has become "normalised".

Dutton said he has been speaking to the PM about it and believes it should have bipartisan support in order to protect vulnerable kids from trauma.

He has recently visited remote NT with Senator Jacinta Price and said it's a matter of urgency.

It comes as the family of a 15-year-old boy in Perth mourn their son who was killed while walking home from school this week.

Cassius Turvey was allegedly bashed with a metal pole after getting off a bus on October 13.

WA Police say Jack Steven James Brearley, 21, exited the vehicle and ran towards them, allegedly bashing Cassius with a pole.

Cassius - who started his own lawn mowing business - suffered severe head injuries, a seizure and two strokes, ultimately ending up in an induced coma before he died on Sunday.

His family has revealed a memorial has since been erected in Middle Swan for Cassius. Tributes and memorials will be held for him around the country.

In the name of the Daddy, the Son and the Holy Spirit

In sentences I didn't expect to write today, but really should have considering it's Scorpio season and 2022, but Pope Francis has weighed in on porn.

The leader of the Catholic Church has used a convention with seminarians in Rome to warn of the dangers of digital pornography, saying it's "a vice so many people have" - including priests and nuns.

The pope was responding to a question about how to best use digital and social media when he made the comments, which have been published by the Vatican.

"The pure heart, the one that Jesus receives every day, cannot receive this pornographic information," he said.

"And if you can delete this from your mobile phone, delete it, so you won't have the temptation in hand. And if you can't cancel it, defend yourself well not to get into this.

"I tell you, it is something that weakens the soul. It weakens the soul. The devil enters from there: it weakens the priestly heart."

The important take out there is "priestly" heart. You at home - you do you babe.

Elon is now "Chief Twit"

I can't with this dad joke.

We all deserve an ex like Anne Hathaway

The artist formerly known as Andy from The Devil Wears Prada is of course defending her on screen boyfriend, Nate, from a long running internet theory that he's the worst.

Nate, played by Entourage's Adrian Grenier, was - according to a viral post - the real villain in the movie. Because he cracked it when she missed his birthday due to work commitments and spend a lot of money of Jarlsberg she was too stressed to eat. Yep didn't mind her wearing La Perla lingerie for him - a perk from her job as Miranda Priestly's EA.

“I think that they were both very young and figuring things out, and he did behave like a brat, but I also behaved like a brat in my 20s and I hopefully grew out of it and I think that that’s what we all do,” she said.

“I wouldn’t want to be defined by my worst moment in my 20s, certainly, so I don’t hold Nate as a villain actually.”

Grenier has previously weighed in on the issue and admits it forced him to think about things.

“It hadn’t occurred to me until I started to really think about it, and perhaps it was because I was as immature as Nate was at the time, and in many ways he’s very selfish and self-involved, it was all about him, he wasn’t extending himself to support Andy in her career,” Grenier said during an interview.

“At the end of the day, it’s just a birthday, right? It’s not the end of the world,” he continued. “I might’ve been as immature as him at the time, so I personally couldn’t see his shortcomings. But after time to reflect and much deliberation, I’ve come to realize the truth in that perspective.”
