Heathrow is begging you: go find another airport

One of the world's busiest airports, London's Heathrow, will cap the number of departing passengers and has asked airlines to stop selling new tickets from the airport.
The airport will introduce a daily cap of 100,000 passengers until September 11. That's still significantly lower than pre-pandemic traffic.
Critical staff shortages are to blame, Heathrow CEO John Holland-Kaye said in an open letter.
Gatwick Airport in London has limited daily flight numbers and Amsterdam's Schiphol has dramatically restricted its maximum daily passenger numbers by 13,500, as everyone is desperate to fly through European summer.
The restriction is likely to lead to even more canceled flights despite airlines having already cancelled thousands of flights from their summer schedules.
Airlines are expected to operate flights over the summer with an overall daily capacity of 104,000 seats, or 4000 more each day than Heathrow can handle, the airport said.
"So we are asking our airline partners to stop selling summer tickets to limit the impact on passengers," Holland-Kaye said.
