Like moths to a red flame...

Swipe right for the love of your life.

Who said romance was dead!

It’s official: Tinder is the dating app where you’re most likely to meet your future husband or wife.

Not the more perceived-to-be wholesome apps, like Plenty of Fish or Hinge.

No, it turns out that the most engagements happen on the favourite hook-up app with the signature red flame.

In a survey of 5,000 recently engaged couples from around the world, marriage website The Knot concluded that more than a quarter had met online.

Of those who met on the apps, the survey found that three major players were responsible: Hinge had matched 21 per cent, Bumble had matched 23 per cent and Tinder had matched 27 per cent.

Since Tinder’s launch in 2012, the app has been downloaded more than 450 million times, which have led to around 60 billion matches. Despite its reputation as being for casual relationships, the data proves that Tinder is the most successful dating app for marriages.

But if you do the maths, Hinge, which only has around 12 per cent of the annual revenue of Tinder, was responsible for 78 per cent as many engagements as its bigger counterpart.

"We lose around 25 per cent of potential users during the sign-up process because we require people to think deeply about who they are and what they want, but that's on purpose," Hinge's Director of Relationship Science Logan Ury said.

"We want our community to focus on their connection with someone instead of collecting matches, so our design helps initiate thoughtful conversations right from the beginning."
