A man and a woman have been found dead in a Brisbane home on Monday morning with police describing the crime scene as “quite traumatic”.

Detectives arrived at Coolidge Court in the southern suburb of Stretton at 9.40am following a triple-0 call from a 49-year-old man who has since been taken into custody.

The man required a Cantonese interpreter to speak with the emergency line and did not communicate much with police when they arrived, but unlocked the door and let them inside.

Detective superintendent Andrew Massingham said the dead man in his 20s and woman in her 40s were located upstairs with a large amount of blood on the stairs along with two bladed weapons believed to be used in the attack.

“The scene was confronting and has been described as a frenzied attack on the two deceased persons,” Superintendent Massingham said.

The 49-year-old was seen to be suffering with injuries to his arms and legs and was treated in hospital.

“They rendered immediate first aid to him and a short time later was taken into police custody,” Superintendent Massingham said.

“He is receiving treatment for those injuries and very shortly will be subject to a forensic procedure order undertaken by us in relation to forensic samples that we are seeking.”

Superintendent Massingham said the man was not answering questions and has requested legal representation.

“Their relationship [between the man and the deceased] is yet to be fully established,” he said.

“We do believe the 49-year-old male has a link to this address, as to whether the two persons that are victims are linked and in which way, we are still investigating that aspect of it.”

The Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch and Homicide Unit have launched an investigation and are working to identify the victims.
