Fundraiser for Bogie farm shooting survivor Ross Tighe launched as alleged triple-murderer set to face court

A touching fundraiser has been organised for a man who survived an alleged shooting at a remote property in North Queensland.

A fundraiser has been organised for a man who survived an alleged farm massacre in North Queensland, raising more than $6000 in just a day.

Ross Tighe was allegedly shot in the stomach at a property in Bogie, near Bowen, with his brother Graham, mother Maree Schwarz and stepfather Mervyn Schwarz on Thursday.

Police allege Darryl Young, 56, opened fire on the family at the gate of his property.

The other three people died from gunshot wounds.

Ross was seriously injured but managed to drive about 40km to alert police.

He was flown to Mackay hospital and underwent emergency surgery on Thursday night.

An online fundraiser has since been organised for Ross and his partner, Kaitlyn, to help with their family’s recovery.

At the time of publication it had amassed more than $6400.

“This tragedy will have forever changed the lives of Ross and his partner Kaity and their young daughter,” the fundraiser states.

“We have created this fund to help them with the aftermath of suddenly having their worlds turned upside down.

“Please help us lessen some of this burden and unforeseen future costs.”

Mr Young has been charged with three counts of murder following his arrest.

He will face Proserpine Magistrates Court on Monday.
