ALP ignores Hayne

Labor appears to have ignored the instructions of banking royal commissioner Kenneth Hayne for submissions in response to his interim report, opting instead to promote its own banking victim “roundtable” rather than answer policy questions put forward by the former High Court judge. Labelling Labor’s submission to the royal commission a “blunder”, the Greens said the oppositiion had had a chance to show how it might fix the banking system, but had blown it.

AMP bounce

AMP shares have bounced as much as 10 per cent this morning, after diving 25 per cent yesterday to hit its lowest level since listing 20 years ago. Early trade saw the wealth manager reach as much as $2.77 - up from the $2.50 previous close. The drop in its price saw several analysts raise their rating on the stock - raised at UBS, Citi and Morningstar but cut at Credit Suisse. Keep up with the latest in our live blog, Trading Day.

Cop charged with child sex

A NSW Police senior constable has been refused bail after being charged with alleged child sex offences, including having sexual intercourse with a child. The 43-year-old police officer was arrested yesterday afternoon, and charged with alleged offences of having and attempting to have sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated acts of indecency, aggravated indecent assault, grooming, and peep and pry.
