A senior constable who taught children about how to be safe from online predators, has been charged with alleged sexual abuse and rape of a child.
The abuse allegedly occurred over a 10 year period, starting when the victim was under 10 years old.
One school’s newsletter reported that the officer in question taught children about cyberbullying, sexting and the dangers of online predators.
The 43-year-old alleged offender was arrested on Thursday afternoon and was refused bail today at Penrith Local Court. He was charged with alleged offences of having and attempting to have sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated acts of indecency, aggravated indecent assault, grooming, and peep and pry.
All of the officer’s duties were suspended yesterday after an internal investigation.
The victims were all under the age of 14, with some younger than 10-years-old. Detectives from the professional standards command and the state child abuse and sex crimes squad, arrested the officer of offences that allegedly occur between 2007 and 2018.
