Preference ALP, Brumby urges Liberal voters

VICTORIAN Premier John Brumby has urged inner-city Liberal voters to preference Labor over the Greens at next month's state election.
The latest Newspoll has revealed that almost one in five Victorians are planning to vote Greens, with the third party potentially taking four inner-city seats off Labor.
Mr Brumby this morning sought to remind Liberal voters that the Greens can only secure the four seats on the back of Liberal preferences.
He said Liberal voters in the inner-city had the power to determine the outcome of the seats.
"The Greens are now coming in second, and it’s the Liberal party ... that comes in third," Mr Brumby said on ABC Radio.
"For the Liberal voters, many of them don’t realise that it’s their preferences that will determine the seat ... I would appeal to them to make an informed decision about whether they really do want to elect a Greens member of parliament."
