Yarraville crane collapse: two injured, houses damaged

A crane has collapsed on two houses in Melbourne’s inner west, injuring two workers, as emergency crews figure out how to stand it back up. Police and about 20 firefighters were called to Schild Street in Yarraville just before 1pm on Wednesday.
“The crane collapsed onto two houses and thankfully, everyone on scene at the time has been accounted for,” the MFB said.
Two men working on the construction site — where a house was being relocated — received minor injuries.
The pair were treated at the scene and are stable, an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said.
An unoccupied house sustained major structural damage during the incident, police said.
An MFB heavy rescue appliance, along with specialist search and rescue operators, are helping and Worksafe is investigating.
Emergency crews are determining how to stand the crane back up in what’s likely to be a protracted operation.
