Vogue Vanguard runway to celebrate emerging Australian creatives
The event is expected to showcase the best of Australia’s rising fashion talent.
Vogue Australia has announced a runway show highlighting Australia’s burgeoning creatives as the culmination of Australian Fashion Week 2025. Vogue Vanguard, on Friday, May 16, is expected to showcase and celebrate the next generation of Australian fashion designers.
The runway will feature some of the brightest emerging stars, including Emily Watson, Minhee Jo (Aaizel), Samuel Williams, Ethan Bergersen and Ruby Pedder. First introduced in 2023, Vogue Vanguard aims to platform and break ground across different creative fields, including fashion, culture, arts and music.
In partnership with American Express, the runway will highlight the future of homegrown fashion, as the industry enters a new era after the Australian Fashion Council took the reins for the event in November 2024.
In years prior, AFW was organised by global agency IMG; its departure from the event last year sparked the AFC to undertake administrative control over the event.
“Uncovering and supporting the next generation of talent is part of the joy of working at Vogue. Harnessing Vogue’s reach to uplift these creatives has been part of my mission since the beginning,” says Vogue Australia editor-in-chief Christine Centenera. “It is crucial to support a thriving creative environment and exciting to be a part of it.”
American Express vice-president of brand, marketing and member experience Naysla Edwards notes how crucial it is to uplift local designers. “This event and partnership is a true testament to, and celebration of, the phenomenal Australian fashion industry,” she said.
The runway show will be hosted off-site in Rushcutters Bay, and will be followed by an afterparty in partnership with Ksubi.
