Aussie pop stars The Veronicas were kicked off a flight by federal police in Sydney today after allegedly refusing to properly stow their luggage in the overhead compartments.

Irritated passengers on a Brisbane-bound flight were forced to wait almost an hour on the tarmac at Sydney Airport because of a situation involving the sisters, Lisa and Jess Origliasso.

The pair were reportedly acting disruptively — refusing to follow the directions of cabin crew.

One passenger, who wished to remain anonymous, told The Courier Mail he overheard cabin crew becoming increasingly frustrated with the pair.

“They were just in a belligerent, ‘I-refuse-to-do-what-I’m-told-because-I’m-important’ load of rubbish,” he said.

The duo, who were allowed to travel to Brisbane on a later flight, have since taken to Instagram to explain their side of the incident which they say was an “upsetting and embarrassing experience”.

The pair said they already had their bags in the overhead compartment, but that a female flight attendant wanted one of the bags to be turned around.

“Lisa asked the attendant if she could help assist her, because she couldn’t reach it (we’re only 5’1),” the pair explained.

“The attendant said it was against company policy and a lovely man behind us helped instead. Then right before take off, the flight attendant bought over the manger and pointed us out. He proceeded to lecture us about company policy.

“We listened and asked for their names. At that point they refused to give us their names, and announced they were going to call security on us. We had no idea why. That’s when we started filming!

“We were so confused as to why asking for their names resulted in us being removed by 3 federal police. Such an upsetting and embarrassing experience. We still can’t believe this happened, and that the flight was delayed for so long when we had no idea what was happening. We are still in shock and so upset.”

An Australian Federal Police spokesperson confirmed officers had attended an incident.

“AFP officers attended and spoke with staff and two female passengers who were having a verbal dispute on-board an aircraft due to depart for Brisbane.

“AFP officers asked the two female passengers to depart the plane, to which they agreed to with no further issues.

“The AFP considers the matter finalised.”

Qantas confirmed that flight QF516, which was scheduled to leave at 10am from Sydney Airport, was delayed due to an incident on-board.

“After boarding, two passengers refused to follow crew instructions and were offloaded,” a statement read.

Sydney Airport’s website stated the flight left 40 minutes late.

The duo had travelled to Sydney to attend a conference held by motivational speaker Tony Robbins.
