An alleged “international con woman” who has been accused of blackmail and several “financial crimes” is being investigated by Ukraine’s leading security agency after senior members of the Ukrainian Foreign Legion said her position within the international force should be immediately terminated.

Emese Abigail Fajk – who has been accused of a raft of offences including blackmail, misappropriation of donations and stealing medical supplies valued up to $US2.5m ($3.6m) – is believed to be under investigation by the Security Service of Ukraine, or SBU, after several complaint dossiers were sent to Ukrainian Ground Forces command.

A senior officer in the foreign legion, who authored one of the dossiers and spoke to The Australian on the condition of anonymity, said Ms Fajk was now the subject of a wide-ranging investigation involving the SBU and the counter intelligence division of UGF command, following last month’s complaints.

“This (dossier) is the culmination of five months of investigation … There is now a formal investigation by both the counter intelligence and ground forces command into her activities,” the officer told The Australian, after describing Ms Fajk as a “cancer on the organisation” in the confidential complaint.

In a separate dossier, an officer alleged Ms Fajk’s “illicit behaviours” made her “extremely susceptible to blackmail, bribery, extortion and/or open recruitment by officers of the Russian Federation Security Services”.

The two dossiers, which were independently written without instruction from UGF command or the foreign legion, were subsequently forwarded to the US embassy in Kyiv.

The Australian does not suggest Ms Fajk is guilty of these allegations, only that they have been raised by several senior members of the foreign legion.

The Hungarian national, who goes by the alias “Mockingjay” and holds the position of 1st battalion communications director, made headlines in Australia in 2020 after she made the winning bid on a property at an auction on the TV show The Block. Ms Fajk allegedly produced false bank transfers to the Nine Network, indicating the funds had been sent.

In July 2022, Nine’s A Current Affair reported Ms Fajk supplied a fake ANZ banking receipt after she placed a number of bids on a property featured on The Block, ultimately winning the auction for $4,256,000.

The Australian has sought comment from Ms Fajk.
