Alleged conwoman Emese Fajk from Channel 9’s The Block joins foreign fighters in Ukraine

A woman who allegedly tried to con Channel 9’s The Block after placing a $4 million dollar bid on a house and failing to pay has been pictured in Ukraine holding an assault rifle.

Emese Fajk, who allegedly tried to con the Nine Network show The Block, appeared at a press conference alongside three foreign fighters at the ‘Ukraine Media Centre’ and was pictured holding what appears to be an M4A1 assault rifle.

An alleged “international con woman” who placed a $4m bid on a house on the Nine Network’s The Block but failed to pay has been pictured in Ukraine holding an assault rifle and conducting a press conference alongside foreign fighters.

Alleged fraudster Emese Fajk, who also claims to work for the UN, became the talk of the nation in 2020 after she made the winning bid on Jimmy and Tam’s property at auction time on hit TV show The Block.

It was later revealed that Fajk, who also goes by the name Emese Fayk, allegedly produced false bank transfers to the network, indicating funds had been sent.

Last Friday, the 30-year-old fronted a media conference, hosting a Q&A for members of the international press for three foreign legionnaires fighting for Ukraine, which was also streamed live on Facebook.

Ms Fajk was dressed in camouflage uniform, and facilitated the conference in front of a “Ukraine Media Centre” and “Kharkiv Media Hub” media wall. “The purpose of this is for us to be able to tell what is really happening in the legion and how things really are,” she said before introducing the fighters. Ms Fajk, who claims on LinkedIn to have worked as a senior consultant for the UN since 2015, posted photographs on her private Instagram account on Monday morning, Australia time.

One photograph was of the press conference, where an assault rifle could be seen resting on the media wall in the background.

“You can bomb our cities, you can’t bomb the resistance! #communicationsdirector #internationallegion #nof..ksgiven” the Hungarian national wrote in the caption.

Another shot showed her in camouflage gear holding what appears to be an M4A1 assault rifle. Thousands of the weapons were donated to Ukraine by the Biden administration.

When asked whether she was working in Ukraine, Ms Fajk confirmed to The Australian she was. “I don’t want this out there (with) my full name,” she wrote.

In a subsequent phone call, Ms Fajk claimed that since The Block scandal, Australian media had treated her poorly.

“The way the Australian media treated everything and every piece of information that I’ve given … I’m not going to give anyone anything,” she said.

“It would be a really amazing PR move for me, I’m not going to use it,” she said.

She refused to comment further or elaborate on the nature of the work she was doing.

“Publicly, I’m not going to comment on anything, and that’s the end of it” she said. “I’m not commenting and this call ends here,” she said.

In another photograph of her holding a weapon uploaded at the end of June, Ms Fajk said she had been in the war-torn country for 3½ months.

“This is the ‘I’m tired of the Ukrainian uniform and I wear my own stuff’ phase,” she wrote.

Ms Fajk shot to notoriety when she placed multiple bids on the property, ultimately winning the auction for $4,256,000.

Nine’s A Current Affair later claimed Ms Fajk supplied a fake ANZ banking receipt for a transfer to the value of the property sale.

The bank later said daily transfers were capped at $25,000.

In the end, Nine did not receive the funds from Ms Fajk and the contract of sale was voided by the network - which also handed all its evidence to authorities.

Following the publicity, former partners and small business owners came forward alleging Ms Fajk had a trail of debt.

While Ms Fajk’s LinkedIn profile states she has worked as a senior consultant for the UN since 2015, in December 2020 she wrote to this journalist saying she was not an employee of the UN.

“I completed work for the UN as a contractor, while working with another firm,” she wrote.
