WEARABLES shape as a major growth area in consumer technology, especially as your relatives and friends are unlikely to own many wearables - yet. That makes them great Christmas buyware. And wearables won’t necessarily break the budget, being cheaper than most phones, tablets and notebooks.
The best known wearables are ones you place on your wrist, in particular smart watches and activity/health monitors. But you can find wearables for most parts of your body.
Going from head to toe, there are headbands that measure your REM sleep, smart glasses for your eyes, smart T-shirts, smart bow ties, smart bras, even smart pajamas for children with coded patterns that link to new bedtime stories. You also can adorn yourself with pendants that measure sun exposure, or ornate bracelets and cufflinks with embedded USB flash drives.
Heading further south, you can buy sensors for socks that will measure record force, pressure data, and sensors for sports shoes too.
Here are a dozen wearables. Some are in market now, others show just how promising Year 2015 should be in this new market.
