Australia’s richest person, Gina Rinehart, was seen handing out food to campaign volunteers in NSW Planning Minister Anthony Roberts’ seat of Lane Cove.

Pictures posted to social media show Ms Rinehart at a polling booth in a white SUV adorned with Australian flags.

Mr Roberts confirmed Ms Rinehart’s appearance earlier today.

“Gina’s an old family friend,” Mr Roberts told Sky News.

“Gina got in her car and delivered to booth workers sandwiches and pies.”

On Friday, The Australian’s Richest 250 List revealed Ms Rinehart has an estimated worth of $37bn.

The Liberals are worried they will lose the seat of Lane Cove, which the party has held since the seat’s creation in 1950.

Mr Roberts is under threat from Climate 200-backed candidate Victoria Davidson.

He said Ms Davidson ran “a very negative campaign”.
