The identical twin brother of wife-killer Chris Dawson is facing serious allegations of having sex with underage girls, after one of his former students claimed he took advantage of her, and she was “intimate” with him a number of times at school.

Former student Shelley Oates-Wilding on Sunday revealed she had been in a sexual relationship with her teacher Paul Dawson when she was a teenager in 1980-81.

Ms Oates-Wilding said she had spent time with the twins on multiple occasions while they were PE teachers at Cromer High School on Sydney’s northern beaches. The brothers were also semi-famous Newtown Jets rugby league players.

“They were like superstars,” Ms Oates-Wilding told Nine’s 60 Minutes.

“When you have somebody who’s extremely good looking, a great athlete, extremely personable, charismatic … and to have that person showing attention to you. I mean, you’re 15 or 16 years of age.

“I mean, there would be times where we were together with no one else there.

“There’d be times at the fitness classes where we’d be in the store room together, or there’d be times in the pool where we’d be intimate. But usually at most of those, there’d be his brother and they were used to doing this type of thing.”

Earlier this year, Chris Dawson was found guilty of carnal knowledge, after a judge ruled he had an unlawful sexual relationship in 1980 with a student known as AB and had murdered his wife Lyn Simms to be with.

Following Dawson’s carnal knowledge trial, Lyn Simms’s brother Greg and sister-in-law ­Merilyn urged NSW police to ­investigate other teachers ­accused of being part of a sex ring within the school.

“These teachers were in a position of trust and they betrayed that trust, not only to these young students but to their parents, to the school and the community, and they need to be exposed,” Ms Simms said in June. “And the sooner the better.”

Mr Simms said: “We just hope that this conviction will give (other victims) more heart, that they too can get some sort of ­vindication.”

The evidence heard during the carnal knowledge trial focused on how the two men would swap teaching roles with each other to allow each man to have a break where he would allegedly be alone with an underage girl.

Police have never charged Paul Dawson with any alleged ­offending related to having sex with underage girls.

Retired detective Damian Loone, who worked on the Lyn Simms murder case for 18 years, told 60 Minutes at least four women had made complaints that Paul Dawson also had sex with underage students. He said those complaints would be passed on to the Education Department.

Ms Oates-Wilding said she hoped police would turn their ­attention to Paul Dawson now his brother’s case had concluded.

“I know there’s other people that have been in my situation with Paul Dawson and worse than me, and it affected their lives extremely badly,” she said.

“And the only reason I’m doing it is if I can make a positive difference in someone else’s life.”

Paul Dawson told 60 Minutes he didn’t have sex with any of his students in the 1980s.
