Ousted Victorian Liberal MP Moira Deeming says teachers are teaching “sexual ideas” in trans-positive school curriculums

Expelled Liberal Moira Deeming accuses teachers of “cutting connection between parent and child” in curriculum.

Liberal values 'the moral high ground': Deeming urges 'conviction not capitulation'

Expelled Victorian Liberal MP Moira Deeming has accused teachers of “cutting the connection between the parent and their child” in championing a trans-positive curriculum, warning parents of “terrible” ideologies being pushed in classrooms.

Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference Australia in Sydney on Sunday, the former teacher said educators were allowed to “lie and withhold information from parents” and introduce “sexual ideas” to a child behind their parents’ back.

Transgender issues were one of the central themes tackled at the final day of Australia’s biggest conservative conference, drawing prominent current and former politicians and advocates.

Ms Deeming, a women’s sex-based rights advocate, was ousted from the Liberal partyroom in May after it voted 19-11 to expel her following her attendance at a Let Women Speak rally that was gatecrashed by neo-Nazis.

“In the curriculums, they call it gender euphoria as if it’s a fun choice,” she said. “People who go behind a parent’s back and sexualise children, we already have a category for that. I’m not saying everybody is in that category, but I am saying it’s absolutely unacceptable for all the same reasons. Parents are their children’s best protectors.”

“So as a teacher, I just couldn’t believe that … literally my authority was being directed towards children in such a way that it was gaslighting them and removing all of the safeguards that all teachers everywhere know we need, like not having male teachers supervise the female swimming rooms, like not letting the males into the girls toilets.

“I just cannot believe the absolute total wholesale destruction of child safeguarding. They’ve put into policies and in the law that teachers are allowed to lie and withhold information from parents.”

Ms Deeming encouraged parents to speak to their children more and be aware of what they were being taught.

“Please don’t assume what’s going on in any school – I don’t care if it’s a Catholic school or a Christian school, I don’t care what school it is, it’s a mandated curriculum,” she said.

Women’s Forum Australia chief executive officer Rachael Wong and Giggle founder Sall Grover appeared with Ms Deeming at the panel organised by former Liberal National senator Amanda Stoker.

Ms Wong spoke on children seeking life-changing surgeries and drug treatments to transition and said the amount of people with “true gender dysmorphia” was low.

“You’ve got big pharma and the interests they have in basically getting clients for life because once you transition the child then they have to be on hormones and puberty blockers and so on forever,” she said.

The final day of the conference also discussed a push for nuclear energy with Nationals MP Keith Pitt calling Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen a “dastardly villain”.

The former resources minister vowed to fight against the government’s push for renewable energy as he warned the audience against solar and wind power.

“So our dastardly villain, Chris Bowen … now Chris has a dream and you’ve seen that dream play out in the last year,” he said.

“And that dream is forests of wind turbines and oceans of solar panels. Now that’s not my dream.

“I like our forests as they are. And I, in particular, like our agricultural land not covered in solar panels and wind turbines and producing food. Food for our country, food for the world.”
