A disability carer has been charged with 16 offences including producing child abuse material after an investigation into a care home in western Sydney.

The 20-year-old man allegedly secretly filmed videos of himself physically and verbally abusing five vulnerable adults and sexually abusing two children at a disability care facility in Mount Druitt.

Police allege the Eastern Creek man recorded “intimate and sexually abusive” videos of two children between the ages of four and 12, and committed multiple other offences.

It is alleged he filmed a total of five residents in his care, filming physical and verbal abuse that took place between June 2019 and April 2020.

The man was arrested at a Paramatta business on Friday afternoon and has been charged with 11 counts of intentionally recording an intimate image without consent, producing child abuse material, possessing child abuse material, intentionally sexually touching a child under 10 years and two counts of common assault.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday and has been stood down from his position at the care home.

Surry Hills Police launched Strike Force Hendra last month to investigate suspected abuse of residents at the disability care home.

Investigations are ongoing, including into whether any other people were involved in the abuse.
