Brad Pitt made our lives hell, says his son Pax

Brad Pitt’s adopted son has accused the Oscar-winning actor of being a ‘despicable person’ who made his four youngest children ‘tremble in fear’.

Brad Pitt’s adopted son has accused the Oscar-winning actor of being a “despicable person” who made his four youngest children “tremble in fear”.

Pitt, 59, has six children with the actress Angelina Jolie, 48, but their divorce has been among the more acrimonious in Hollywood in recent years.

Jolie accused Pitt of drunkenly attacking her on a private jet flight in front of the children in 2016, though he denied the allegations and an FBI investigation did not lead to charges being filed.

The former couple have also been locked in a bitter custody battle, as well as a dispute over a French vineyard they owned together until Jolie sold her stake in the business.

Now it has emerged that Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt, a 19-year-old who was adopted by Jolie from a Vietnamese orphanage in 2007, wrote a scathing message about his father in 2020.

In a post on his Instagram, which featured a photo of Pitt accepting his Oscar for best supporting actor, he wrote: “Happy Father’s Day to this world-class asshole!! You time and time and again prove yourself to be a terrible and despicable person.

“You have no consideration or empathy toward your four youngest children who tremble in fear when in your presence. You will never understand the damage you have done to my family because you are incapable of doing so.

“You have made the lives of those closest to me a constant hell. You may tell yourself and the world whatever you want but the truth will come to light some day.

“So Happy Father’s Day, you f***ing awful human being!!!”

A source told Mail Online that the account was one Pax used mostly for friends from school. “He never says much about his parents, keeps himself to himself, so that was unusual,” the source added.

The Times approached Pitt for comment but his representatives declined to comment on the social media message being made public. However, Pax’s words may sting as during the actor’s acceptance speech at the 2020 Oscars ceremony, he made a point of dedicating the award to his children. “This is for my kids, who colour everything I do. I adore you,” he said after being recognised for his performance in 2019’s Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood.

Jolie adopted Pax in 2007, and Pitt became his adoptive father the following year.

The couple split in 2016 and their six children stayed with Jolie.

Reports later emerged of an altercation on a private jet between Pitt, who was said to have been drunk, and Maddox, now 22, their eldest, who was adopted from Cambodia.

Pitt and Jolie divorced in 2019 and Jolie initially had full custody until 2021, when Pitt gained the right to have the children half the time.

It later emerged that the judge presiding over the case, John Ouderkirk, had a close business relationship with Pitt’s legal team and custody was returned to Jolie.

Jolie told Vogue in 2021 that she had split with Pitt for the “wellbeing” of her family.

“It was the right decision,” she said. “I continue to focus on their healing. Some have taken advantage of my silence, and the children see lies about themselves in the media, but I remind them that they know their own truth and their own minds.”

The couple’s third adopted child is Zahara, now 18, from Ethiopia. They also have three biological children: Shiloh, 17, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15.

In addition to custody disputes, the legal battle over Chateau Miraval, a vineyard the couple bought together in Provence and where they were married in 2014, continues after Jolie sold her half.

Pitt, who was previously married to Jennifer Aniston, accused Jolie of “vindictively” selling her share of the business to a billionaire without his approval.

Pitt contends that he and Jolie agreed not to sell their respective stake without the other’s approval.

He alleges that Jolie sold her share to a “hostile third-party competitor”.

“The purported sale deprives Pitt of his right to enjoy the home he established for his family and to oversee the business he developed from scratch,” Pitt’s lawyers said.

However, in July lawyers for Jolie’s former investment company said in a court filing that Pitt and his “co-conspirators” were guilty of “looting” the chateau to regain control of it.

Pitt was accused of wasting the business’s assets by “spending millions on vanity projects ... rebuilding a staircase four times and spending millions to restore a recording studio”.

The filing also alleged that Pitt behaved like a “petulant child” by refusing to treat Yuri Shefler, the Russian billionaire who bought half of the vineyard from Jolie in 2021, as an equal partner.

Pitt had described himself as a “farmer” who was interested in all facets of winemaking, such as knowing which field is suitable for which grape.

Lawyers representing a company founded by Jolie to manage her stake in the winery said that others did all of the work.

“Pitt is an actor, not a winemaker,” the legal filing stated. “He deals in illusions, not dirt and grapes.”
