UniSQ to build new allied health building in Ipswich
The University of Southern Queensland is building a new facility on its Ipswich campus for its expanding range of allied health courses.
The University of Southern Queensland has announced a new $38m building to be built on its Ipswich campus for its expanding range of allied health courses.
This year UniSQ introduced new courses in speech pathology, occupational therapy, social work, and strength and conditioning, with a new course in physiotherapy to begin next year.
The building – expected to open in mid-2025 – will be a central hub, offering expanded space for these programs as well as for associated research.
UniSQ vice-chancellor Geraldine Mackenzie said that industry and employer demand for degree-qualified allied health professionals was strong.
“There are high levels of interest from students in these programs,” she said. “This new infrastructure will help the University of Southern Queensland meet a critical need in the community for more allied health professionals to support an expanding population in the Ipswich region.”
The 3000 square metre building will include a sport and high performance clinic as well as commercial and community space where industry and health service partners can work with university staff and students.
