Petra Rees is the launch editor of The Australian’s Health & Wellbeing section. Rees has been deputy editor of The Australian since 2016, her second stint in the role, and has previously served as national chief-of-staff, deputy editor of The Weekend Australian Magazine, editor of Review and editor of new magazine publications. The Walkley award winner, who has an honours degree in literature, began her career in journalism more than 40 years ago in Wollongong and also worked at the Times on Sunday.

Natasha Robinson is The Australian’s health editor and writes across medicine, science, health policy, research, and lifestyle. Natasha has been a journalist for more than 20 years in newspapers and broadcasting, has been recognised as the National Press Club’s health journalist of the year and is a Walkley awards finalist and a Kennedy Awards winner. She is a former Northern Territory correspondent for The Australian with a special interest in Indigenous health. Natasha is also a graduate of the NSW Legal Profession Admission Board’s Diploma of Law and has been accepted as a doctoral candidate at QUT’s Australian Centre for Health Law Research, researching involuntary mental health treatment and patient autonomy.

Stephen Lunn is The Australian’s Social Affairs Editor, covering social policy issues including ageing, population, disability, welfare, and migration. He has previously been the paper’s environment writer and Tokyo correspondent. He has also worked in public policy advocacy in the private sector, and practised as a lawyer in Australia and the UK. Stephen has a Masters degree in law from the London School of Economics.

Penny Timms is a multi-platform health reporter. She has a particular interest in consumer health, future preparedness, and medical science. Penny joins The Australian following a background in public and independent journalism in Sydney, London, the Northern Territory, and Queensland.

Fiona Harari is an award-winning journalist who has worked in print and television. A Walkley freelance journalist of the year and the author of two books, Fiona returned to The Australian in 2019 after 15 years.

James Dowling is a reporter in The Australian’s Sydney bureau. As an intern at The Age he was nominated for a Quill award for News Reporting in Writing for his coverage of the REDcycle recycling scheme. When covering health he writes on medical innovations and industry.

Imogen Reid is a journalist and digital producer who began her career at The Australian as a cadet in 2019 after moving from a reporting role at news.com.au. She has covered varied assignments including hard news, lifestyle and travel. Most recently she has been focused on driving engagement across The Australian’s multiple digital products.

Professor Steve Robson is one of Australia’s most highly qualified surgical specialists, researchers and teachers. He works at the Australian National University Medical School and has served as president of the Australian Medical Association and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. In addition to holding two research PhDs Steve has degrees in genetics, public health, and health economics. He has served with the National Health and Medical Research Council, the Australian Medical Council, and in multiple other national and international roles. Steve has been the author of hundreds of medical journal articles and textbook chapters. He served as a Medical Officer in the Royal Australian Navy in the first Gulf War where he received a citation for meritorious service. Steve is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.

Associate Professor Magdalena Simonis AM is a leading women’s health expert and advisor, a senior honorary research fellow at the University of Melbourne department of general practice and a long-standing member of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners’ expert committee on quality care.

Dr Michael Gannon is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist with 18 years’ experience as a specialist. He has delivered over 5000 babies. He served as president of the AMA from 2016 to 2018. He is president of leading professional indemnity provider MDA National.

Dr Ritu Gupta, fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, is a specialist dermatologist skilled in cosmetic, medical, and surgical dermatology. She graduated with honours in medicine from the University of Sydney and was awarded a PhD for ground-breaking research into Vitamin D and the skin. She is a regular presenter at conferences and in the media, and has a keen interest in educating the general practitioner community and the public on dermatology.

Matthew Condon is an award-winning journalist and the author of more than 18 works of both fiction and non-fiction, including the bestselling true crime trilogy – Three Crooked Kings, Jacks and Jokers and All Fall Down. His other books include The Trout Opera and The Motorcycle Café. In 2019 he was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the community. He is a senior writer and podcaster for The Australian.

Andrew McMillen is an award-winning journalist and author based in Brisbane. Since January 2018, he has worked as national music writer at The Australian. Previously, his feature writing has been published in The New York Times, Rolling Stone and GQ. He won the feature writing category at the Queensland Clarion Awards in 2017 for a story published in The Weekend Australian Magazine, and won the freelance journalism category at the Queensland Clarion Awards from 2015–2017. In 2014, UQP published his book Talking Smack: Honest Conversations About Drugs, a collection of stories that featured 14 prominent Australian musicians.

Damon Kitney has spent three decades in financial journalism, including 16 years at The Australian Financial Review and 12 years as Victorian business editor at The Australian. He specialises in writing the untold personal stories of the nation’s richest and most private people and now has his own writing and advisory business, DMK Publishing. He has published three books, The Price of Fortune: The Untold Story of being James Packer; The Inner Sanctum, and The Fortune Tellers.
