What’s Netball Australia thinking right now?

As Australia watches the stream of gold medals in swimming, with thanks to the amazing support of Gina Rinehart, one wonders whether Netball Australia is saying that “therefore but for the gracelessness of players go I”.

The loudest noise in Paris all week was the mass outcry of “Qui?” when the French heard they’d just been rubbished by Karl Stefanovic.

Alan Joyce doesn’t get a $9m bonus. Boo bloody hoo.

Penni Seignior, Mudgeeraba, Qld

Never in the field of economics has inflation been defeated with governments injecting extra money into the economy. John Maynard Keynes designed that step for low-growth, high-unemployment situations.

Murray Horne, Cressy, Vic

So our Treasurer disagrees with almost every respected economist in the county. Dr Chalmers, heal thyself.

Michael Saul, Scarborough, Qld

LM Silbert, West Leederville, WA

When listening to the assistant governor of the RBA and the Treasurer, both of whom have doctorates, one in economics and the other in politics – the assistant governor deals with reality and the Treasurer deals with spin. Enough said.

Richard Henry, Daruka, NSW

What do you expect from Anthony Albanese and his comrade, Treasurer Jim Chalmers – admit they might be wrong in handling our finances? Go tell it to the fairies, Albo (“PM dismisses RBA concerns government spending is fuelling inflation”, August 8).

What I find interesting is that RBA governor Michele Bullock is a straight-shooter. She’s not the lap-dog that the PM and Chalmers may have thought.

John George, Terrigal, NSW

The sacrosanct rule-of-law principle, where all people are equal before the law, is not something that should have to be fought for (“Verdict on #MeToo redo: ‘presumption of innocence must stand’ ”, August 8).

We live in strange times with the march of the left through the bureaucracy and society generally. The progressive ideology should be about change for the better, not curtailing the rights of certain individuals.
