What do the teals stand for and what have they achieved?

Chris Kenny again asks the two questions about the teals that can never be answered. What do the teals stand for? What have the teals achieved in the last three years in the Australian parliament?

Barney McCusker, Mt Gambier, SA

One wonders why the teals and Greens simply don’t understand that Australia is not responsible for global or local climate change. Their policies can only be described as “shooting ourselves in the foot”.

Christopher Stone, Toowoomba, Qld

Neither of the major political parties has yet pledged a visit to Mars for all of us if it wins the election. Perhaps this generous offer will be saved for later on.

Peter Searcy, Mile End, SA

If there is a minority government, then the Greens will be the tail that wags the Labor dog. The majority of Australians are against MAGA: Make Australia Green Again.

Shaun Miller, Prahran, Vic

As the election battle grinds on, Henry Kissinger’s observation on the 1980s Iran-Iraq war springs to mind: “It’s a pity they can’t both lose.”

John Dorman, Toowoomba, Qld

His detractors delight in calling Peter Dutton Mr Potato Head. But for the sake of balance, Anthony Albanese should be given the moniker Mr Air Head.

George Fishman, Vaucluse, NSW

I am not thankful to Malcolm Turnbull for much, but if he’s responsible for introducing the rhetoric that energy policy should be determined by “engineering and economics”, I am grateful for that.

Andrew Shaw, Normanton, Qld

I missed Adam Bandt’s Easter message. I hope Easter isn’t included in his list of demands like the abolition of CGT exemptions and negative gearing.

Stephen Patten, Wavell Heights, Qld

It would seem Trump has more in common with Albanese than Dutton. After a backflip on tariffs and walking away from a war he was going to fix in a day, he reminds us of Johannes Leak’s cartoon of the Prime Minister.

Chris Taylor, Dernancourt, SA

I laughed out loud, something I rarely do in these troubled times, at Johannes Leak’s cartoon in The Weekend Australian. His image of the transition of Martha into Arthur is so clever. Below the cartoon Chris Uhlmann’s contribution is equally poignant. He encapsulates the essence of Christian theology.

John Bradford, Mermaid Beach, Qld
