Last Post: NDIS, ideologues in Canberra and Trump’s touch

Given the trillions of dollars the mainly Third World countries will be seeking for reparations, I envisage plenty of opportunities will arise for personal enrichment (“All options needed as world leaders tackle climate”, 10/11)

David Crommelin, Strathfield, NSW

The problem with the NDIS (“A challenge to hold back the runaway NDIS”, 9/11) is that the price of goods and the cost of labour skyrocket when the supplier knows the client is funded by the NDIS.

Lizzie Haydon, Runcorn, Qld

What have the Romans done for us, asks Leo Oostveen (10/11). Quite a lot apparently. My son was standing admiring some antiquities in Rome when his Italian-born wife informed him they were either made by slaves or stolen.

Marjorie Brown, Glenunga, SA

I applaud the important article by Cameron Milner in The Australian (“Federal Labor must back resources, not punish it”, 10/11). Here’s hoping that the ideologues in Canberra get the message before it is too late.

Valerie Donovan, Corinda, Qld

Critics who get cross about the PM’s overseas trips should have a Bex and a good lie-down. Federal politicians’ travel is an element of nature that has caused pain since Mal Colston was a boy.

MF Horton, Clarence Park, SA

The Republican Party looks like it has achieved a Pyrrhic victory at best in the midterm elections. With so many Trump-backed Republican candidates performing poorly, it’ll be interesting to see how many of seemingly blinkered voters come to realise that everything Trump touches turns to dust.

Kevin Burke, Sandringham, Vic

Surely the real story is not the Tiffany teals’ financial largesse but rather our first serious steps down the road of politics for sale.

John Lake, Mosman Park, WA

Shadow treasurer Angus Taylor says Treasurer Jim Chalmers “should grow revenue at a faster rate than expenditure”. That’s like a stockbroker saying “buy low and sell high”. All good advice, but where is the detail?

Keith Banfield, Mitcham, SA

The tide would not obey King Canute, but we think it will obey us.

Gerald Simenson, Coolbinia, WA

Mac Boulton wants to see Donald Trump in an orange jumpsuit (Last Post, 10/11). Colour-coded outfits are so 2016. The Orange Man would look much more appealing in a beige straitjacket with contrasting leather straps.

Mark Scanlan, Hawthorne, Qld
