Last Post: Israel, journalism, Hamas and activist actors
With the likes of Julie Szego quitting the journalists union (“Journalism lost in push for ‘balance’ over truth”, 27/11), left-leaning publications such as The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald are slowly and surely being made Judenfrei – free of Jews.

Shame on the actors of the Sydney Theatre Company’s The Seagull for staging a pro-Palestinian protest during the opening night encore (“Theatre company sorry as actors stage pro-Palestinian protest”, 27/11). Audience members had no warning, were in a darkened theatre, no choice. Sounds like they were the hostages in this situation.

I note the STC employment website states: “We encourage all actors from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, mature age artists, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, (LGBTQIA+) non-binary and artists living with disability to apply.” Are its LGBTQIA+ performers aware that if they came out in Gaza they would likely be tossed off high buildings? The actors’ support of the barbaric terrorist regime of Hamas beggars belief.

Hamas is complaining Israel has broken the recent ceasefire agreement by limiting the number of humanitarian trucks into Gaza. Hamas should be the last one to complain about breaking the agreement as it was Hamas that broke the previous ceasefire deal on October 7 with such barbarity that the world is still in shock.

Reading The Weekend Australian was depressing. Students chanting “from the river to the sea” (basically asking for the murder of millions in Israel), theatre companies sanctioning terror groups, journalists wanting a one-sided approach to reporting that is basically anti-Semitic, politicians essentially asking for the destruction of a democratic state. Where is this going to end? We are better than this.

When will politicians learn a two-state solution can come about only when Palestinians want their own state more than they want Israel gone?

I refer to the ultimate question in Gemma Tognini’s article (“Is Palestinian aid lining pockets of terrorists?”, 25-26/11) about whether Israel is bluffing. In my experience, Israel doesn’t bluff.
