An uncanny thing (and yes, there were oodles) about the debate was every time the challenger chanced his toe in the hot water of figures/stats, Donald Trump would interrupt his straying stream of consciousness, allowing Joe Biden time to reassemble his thoughts. Douglas Golding asks how George Pell was allowed to fly out of Australia when others cannot (Last Post, 30/9). Given the treatment the cardinal has received from the left-wing commentariat I imagine he would have been happy to swim to Italy had he not been successful in securing an airline ticket.
