Can you hear the bells, Albo?
I would like to invite our Prime Minister to visit Maroochydore, as it seems every time he visits anywhere, he bestows a billion dollars on their citizens. I have no more clue about who will repay the money than he does, but his largesse is reputedly unstoppable.
Don Paul, Maroochydore, Qld
If Albo can hear ringing in his ears might it be the bells of Werribee tolling for thee?

Is Sam Kerr really paying spin doctors to help her reputation and her case as a victim? If so, I think she should be asking for her money back.

I guess I’ve known for a while but after reading the magazine profile this weekend, it’s now confirmed: I have a “girl crush” on Jacinta Nampijinpa Price.
Jacqui Ennever, Goulburn NSW
Any lingering doubts a person has about Israel’s right to destroy Hamas should be dispelled after reading Gemma Tognini’s harrowing column in The Weekend Australian.

Please can we find a new word or term for “public service”? I’ve asked around the pubs but none of the replies are printable.

Trump’s grandiose plan for the ruined Gaza Strip to rise like a phoenix into a glittering East Mediterranean Riviera Shangri-La is unrealistic. And what is equally fanciful is Anthony Albanese’s and Penny Wong’s commitment to a two-state solution.
Dennis Walker, North Melbourne, Vic
We always knew common sense trumped stupidity, so why did the food distributers and now big business and the miners take so long to realise that and call out our government? Thank you, President Donald Trump, for giving them the mettle.
Ross McDonald, Gordon, NSW
President Donald Trump is going to replace paper drinking straws with plastic? I am really starting to like this bloke.
Ivan Cope, Tanunda, SA
I enjoy reading all The Australian’s columnists. Chris Uhlmann was a brilliant recruit and gave the best-balanced account of Gaza and its future that I have read in The Weekend Australian (“Trump fails to learn from history and the Bible”, 8-9/2.
Joe Miller, Woolgoolga, NSW
I remember the days when our country was thought to be the future food basket of Asia. Unfortunately, under the Albanese government, we seem destined to be the basket case.
