After a nervous start to the state election debates in Queensland, David Crisafulli has hit his stride when it matters most, in the clinching phase of the campaign.

After being outpointed by Steven Miles in their first encounter and scoring a well-fought draw in the second debate, the LNP man was a clear winner on Tuesday night in the leaders’ final head-to-head before the voters have their say on Saturday.

Crisafulli declared for the first time his personal position on abortion – he is pro-choice, despite voting against Labor’s law to decriminalise elective terminations in 2018. He was also emphatic that there would be no revisiting the issue if the LNP won the election.

Pity that it took him until now to drop the obfuscation that’s been a gift for the government on the hustings.

Let’s hope that Crisafulli takes the voters into his confidence on exactly what the LNP plans to do with state debt and to boost a faltering Queensland economy.

The last thing voters deserve is to be treated like mugs.
