The List: fast fortune, with just a little sweat
Our wealthiest 20-something entrepreneurs could become billionaires before they hit 30.
The wealthiest 20-something entrepreneurs in Australia, Kayla Itsines and Tobi Pearce, could easily become billionaires before they hit 30 if the huge global growth of their Sweat digital fitness platform keeps up its pace.
Ms Itsines, 27, and 26-year-old fiancee and business partner Mr Pearce have a fortune of $487 million thanks to Sweat becoming the go-to fitness app for millions of women around the world.
“We are just getting started,” Ms Itsines says in an exclusive interview to mark the inaugural edition of The List — Australia’s Richest 250, to be published in The Weekend Australian tomorrow.
The List is the most comprehensive study of the country’s wealthy undertaken. Ms Itsines and Mr Pearce are the youngest members of the star-studded list.
Ms Itsines is considered one of the most influential people on the internet and has more than 11 million Instagram followers who track her every move in transforming women’s bodies via the fitness empire she and Mr Pearce have built in only five years.
The duo oversee a business turning over more than $100 million a year. Their app, Apple’s largest-grossing health app, derives 50 per cent of its revenue from customers in the US.
The pair have built their online platform in a little more than five years, after Ms Itsines, a fitness instructor, compiled her workout tips and 28-minute high-intensity workouts that have become her signature into the Better Bikini Body Guide e-book.
While Ms Itsines, who is expecting the couple’s first child in May, is the star of Sweat, she and Mr Pearce have expanded its reach by employing five other trainers to post workouts and health and diet tips.
